Parents of children with special needs have a very high divorce rate and LOTS of stress to deal with in their lives. Money fights and money problems are the #1 cause of divorce. Combine the two and you have the perfect storm of family chaos.
If your kid has autism, your kid has autism. You can focus on reducing the stresses related to autism by getting your kid better. There are a gazillion and one autism treatments and lots of things that work for one person with autism, doesn’t work with another. In any case, treatments, speech therapies, biomedical treatments, occupational therapy, etc. all cost money.
The more debt you have, the less money you will have in the future. It is critical that autism-impacted families avoid the trap of debt. While debt may help may for expensive therapies in the short run, it may also be a ticking time bomb of future stress. You are putting your family in a pressure cooker and turning up the pressure a notch or two every time you borrow money. This is disaster waiting to happen.
